Clive Davis admits he is bisexual

TORONTO – Music mogul Clive Davis, who made stars out of artists like Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston and Bruce Springsteen, has said he is bisexual.

In an interview set to air today, the 80-year-old father of four talked about his relationships with men.

“I opened myself up to the possibility that I could have a relationship with a man as well as the two that I had with a woman,” Davis said about the failure of his marriage in the mid-’80s.

“I’m still attracted to women,” he told Katie Couric. “You don’t have to be only one thing or another. For me, it’s the person.”

Davis said he is currently in “a monogamous relationship.”

The music industry veteran is promoting his memoir, The Soundtrack of My Life.

In the book, Davis writes that his four children and his close friends have always known about his sexual orientation.

“Bisexuality is misunderstood; the adage is that you’re either straight or gay or lying, but that’s not my experience,” he writes. “To call me anything other than bisexual would be inaccurate.”

Davis said his first same-sex experience was three decades ago with a man he met at the Studio 54 nightclub in New York. “Was I nervous? Absolutely. Did the heavens open up? No. But it was satisfying.”
