Two men charged in connection to spate of ATM heists

MONTREAL – Police in Longueuil have arrested two men charged with robbing bank clients at automatic teller machines in the months of December and January.

The two – Jean-Sébastien Beauchemin, 20, and William Lemay, also 20 – appeared in Longueuil court on Jan. 17 and were charged with armed robbery at five bank machines in Longueuil and three more in Varennes.

Between Dec. 14, 2012, and Jan 3, 2013, the two are alleged to have threatened bank clients with a gun to withdraw funds from the ATM and then running off with the money.

Beauchemin was also charged with five robberies of jewelry from stores.

The arrests follow a collaboration between the Longueuil police force and the inter-municipal police forces of Richelieu-Saint Laurent.

Investigators believe there could be more incidents and encourage any potential victims to contact the Longueuil police at 450-463-7211.
