Man charged after dangerous chase on Trans-Canada that saw cruiser rammed twice

CALGARY- A man and woman from Calgary have been charged, following dangerous chase on the Trans-Canada highway that saw a RCMP cruiser rammed twice.

Around noon on March 17, Canmore RCMP saw two pickup trucks driving erratically on Bow Valley Trail. When they tried to stop one of the trucks, both sped off. Officers then realized one of the trucks was the same one used in a recent break-and-enter.

RCMP tracked the trucks to Deadmans Flats, where one of the trucks then rammed into the police vehicle trying to stop it. The pursuit then continued towards the exit to Lac Des Arcs, where one of the trucks pulled over, and the driver jumped into the other truck.

When officers tried to stop it, the truck hit the RCMP cruiser again before driving into Calgary.

The two suspects have since been identified with the help of Calgary Police, and on Wednesday, 33-year-old Jason Gary Roy was arrested. He is now facing numerous charges including flight from police and assault with a weapon.
