Police officers deal with a lot of hazards on the job, but an officer in St. Thomas had to contend with a booby trap of butter knives.
The department says an officer responded to a rental unit just after 8 a.m. Monday.
The landlord thought an evicted tenant was trespassing.
When they arrived, the officer found the door to the unit was barricaded. When he used force to open it, it triggered the trap and three butter knives were launched at him.
Police say one hit his chest, another his hand and the last fell to the floor.
No one was hurt and the investigation is ongoing. Charges haven’t been laid at this time.
