Two downtown Kelowna apartment building were evacuated Tuesday morning because of a natural gas leak.
An excavator doing road improvement work on Ethel Street next to Highway 97 ruptured an underground gas line just before 10:00 a.m.

Residents of the two buildings at the intersection were ushered out by RCMP and the fire department.
The incident did not affect highway traffic.
FortisBC sealed the punctured line and the residents were allowed to return to their homes after about an hour.
