The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) said there were no major issues on Canada Day despite an estimated 350,000 to 400,000 people taking part Canada 150 celebrations across the city.
Police said only three people were arrested during Canada Day festivities, one for being too intoxicated in public and two others, who were released later that day, for breaching the peace.
VPD also reported about 80 liquor pour-outs on Saturday, but added none took place at Canada Place.
“The crowds were patient and generally well-behaved,” said Cst. Jason Doucette, adding that the crowd was “very Canadian.”
Transit Police said they also had no major incidents despite thousands of commuters using the system.
Spokesperson Anne Drennan said they did have to deal with about 100 liquor pour-outs, and one person had to be revived using Naloxone.
But she said Vancouverites should be recognized for how well-behaved they were.
