Police seek witnesses after 2 officers injured in crash

TORONTO – Police are seeking witnesses after two York Regional Police media relation officers suffered serious injuries after a crash in East Gwillimbury Thursday afternoon.

The collision happened near Kennedy Road and Mount Albert Road at 4:15 p.m.

The two officers were traveling westbound on Mount Albert Road in an unmarked vehicle when they were hit by a white 2011 Ford F150 pickup truck.

Two air ambulances were dispatched to the scene and the injured were transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 26-year-old woman, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The officers have been identified as Sergeant Kelly Bachoo and Constable Andy Pattenden.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit has been brought in to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

This incident occurred just hours after another person suffered life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Mount Albert Road near Highway 48 just before 1 p.m.
