Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for much of Nova Scotia Wednesday afternoon, warning of extremely cold temperatures later this week.
The weather service says “very cold air” and strong northwesterly winds overnight Thursday and Friday morning will cause temperatures to drop to -15 to -20 C.

When wind chill values Friday morning are factored in, the temperature will be near -30 C, and Environment Canada warns there is a significant risk of frostbite.
