North American soccer’s big night will kick off at 8:00 p.m. ET at BMO Field as the Toronto FC take on the visiting Seattle Sounders FC in the MLS Cup.

It’s the first time the home team, and a Canadian one, has made it to the league championships.

The success is already a win for local businesses in Liberty Village, just north of BMO Field.

“We’re expecting it to be as busy as St. Patrick’s Day, and for an Irish pub that’s saying something,” said Dayna Hoogendam, manager at Brazen Head Irish Pub.

“We are expecting probably 800 to 1,000 people to run through the beer garden, and we’re probably looking at at least that many going through the restaurant itself.”

LOCAL Public Eatery is another Liberty Village restaurant that is bracing for a full house.

“I just think everyone is so pumped and so excited and everyone seems so positive and happy,” manager Brittany Adams said.

Adams said she was also concerned about security once the championship game lets out.

“But we’re prepared for it,” she added.

“We have extra staff and security. I know the cops are around bicycling around everywhere. So we have prepared for the massive amount of people that are going to be leaving the stadium.”
