Saskatoon Transit disruptions Monday due to ATU job action

Bus service continues to be disrupted after the union that represents Saskatoon Transit drivers moved forward with job action.

The Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 615 has directed its operators to refuse overtime and work to rule as their contract dispute with the city remains unresolved.

As a result, Saskatoon Transit has been forced to make the following cancellations to Monday afternoon and evening bus service:

  • Route 22 Montgomery – via Confederation from the downtown terminal at 3:31 p.m. CT will be cancelled today.
  • Route 23 Shaw Centre to Confederation Mall – leaving at 3:25 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. will be cancelled today.
  • Route 101 – University direct from Campus Drive and College Drive to Lakeview at 2:40 p.m. will be cancelled today.

The following buses may experience a higher volume of passengers:

  • Route 2 Meadowgreen – from downtown between 3:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.
  • Route 4 Willowgrove Square – from the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) between 3:20 p.m. and 5:20 p.m.
  • Route 6 Market Mall – from the U of S between 3:07 p.m. and 5:07 p.m.
  • Route 17 Stonebridge – from the U of S between 3:11 p.m. and 5:41 p.m.
  • Route 18 College Park – from the U of S between 3:07 p.m. and 5:37 p.m.
  • Route 40 Evergreen – from the U of S between 3:17 p.m. and 5:17 p.m.
  • Route 45 Kenderdine – from the U of S between 3:02 p.m. and 5:02 p.m.
  • Route 50 Lakeview – from the U of S between 3:20 p.m. and 5:20 p.m.
  • Route 55 Lakeridge – from the U of S between 3:05 p.m. and 5:35 p.m.
  • Route 60 Confederation – from downtown between 3:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.
  • Route 65 Kensington – from downtown between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
  • Route 81 Centre Mall – via Taylor Street from the U of S between 3:05 p.m. and 5:35 p.m.
  • Route 82 Centre Mall – via Main Street from the U of S between 3:14 p.m. and 5:44 p.m.

Bus users can stay informed of any disruptions or delays by following service alerts. Individuals without access to the internet can call the customer service line at 306-975-3100.

Saskatoon Transit encourages customers to plan their commute in advance and allow extra time due to higher volumes of passengers, delays and cancellations.

Access Transit will continue to operate uninterrupted.

Union members of Saskatoon Transit have been without a contract since 2012.
