Halifax police seek help in finding Bedford vehicle break-ins suspect

Halifax police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man they believe broke into vehicles at a Bedford hockey rink last month.

Police received a complaint from an off-duty RCMP officer at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Oct. 27 that her van was broken into and her purse, which contained both her wallet and RCMP badge, had been stolen. She had been parked at the Rocky Lake Dome at 44 Verdi Dr.

The man is believed to have broken into another vehicle through the back passenger window and stolen an iPad the same afternoon.

The suspect is described as a young white man with short, light-coloured hair and scruff on his face, driving a black or dark purple two-door Honda Civic hatchback which had silver-edged black rims and a large spoiler.

Police say the man entered the rink twice between 4:15 and 4:40 p.m. He is said to have returned to the Honda to move it to a different parking spot at one point in the afternoon.

He was wearing an orange hoodie with a blue Under Armour logo, blue jeans, black sneakers with white soles and sunglasses on his head the first time he entered the building. The second time in the building he had on a black hoodie with a small white crest on its front and a white ball cap.

Photos of the man have been released by police in an effort to assist in the investigation. Anyone with information about the man or his vehicle is asked to call police at 902-490-5020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
