Kanye West shocked a lot of his fans by cancelling the second leg of his Saint Pablo tour on Monday. The controversial rapper has had a rough year that doesn’t appear to be getting any better.

On Saturday night, The Life Of Pablo musician stormed off the stage at Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center, cutting his concert short after going on a 15-minute rant about Beyoncé, Jay Z, Hillary Clinton, DJ Khaled, Mark Zuckerberg, Taylor Swift and Lebron James. And on Monday, West’s team announced the cancellation of the remainder of his tour.

On Monday night, West was admitted to hospital due to “exhaustion,” and fans were reassured that those who purchased tickets for the Saint Pablo tour would be fully reimbursed.

How much money could West potentially lose? Here’s the breakdown.

In September, West sold nearly US$780,000 (about C$1,044,899) worth of tour merchandise at his Madison Square Garden show in New York City, which beat Pope Francis‘ previous record by US$240,000 (about C$322,089), according to TMZ. If these numbers were to remain the same throughout each of the 21 now-cancelled stops, West could be missing out on more than US$16 million (about C$21.4 million).

According to Forbes, the Famous hitmaker had been making an average of US$1.5 million per city on tour (about C$2 million) and will likely miss out on a little over US$10 million (over C$13 million). Billboard points out that artists pocket roughly one-third of gross ticket sales.

Forbes says that West earned US$17.5 million (about C$23.4 million) this year, and typically receives multi-million-dollar advances and massive nightly guarantees whenever he books a gig.

The cancellation of West’s Los Angeles show on Sunday night could potentially cost him a lot of money. According to the Washington Post, when concerts are cancelled last-minute, the artist could be on the hook for the venue, hired security and staff, advertising, tickets sold, ticket-takers’ pay and local vendors hired. If the Fade singer would have cancelled the show days in advance, instead of three hours before the concert, he would probably only be charged for reserving the venue.

West’s Yeezus tour in 2013 added double-digit millions to his net worth.

According to Billboard’s list — which gathered its data from individual legs of the tour and not as an overall gross —the Yeezus tour hit No. 2 on the year’s highest-grossing runs, making US$25 million (about C$34 million) across 23 performances during the nine-week tour.

The top grosser was New York City’s Madison Square Garden with more than US$3 million (about C$4.25 million) in sales from 28,919 seats sold at shows on Nov. 23 and 24, but the top attendance count came from Toronto on Dec. 22 and 23.

The tour’s final stop at the Air Canada Centre drew a combined total of 31,386 fans for both performances. His only competitor that year was Paul McCartney, who led by a gross of US$40 million (about C$53 million).

West, who dropped out of college at the age of 20, is still making money from his fashion lines and he has co-ownership of music streaming service Tidal.

He also makes television appearances on his wife’s hit reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. His collaboration with Adidas began in 2013 and continues to grow with his Adidas Yeezy Boosts.

West’s estimated net worth stood at US$145 million as of last year (compared to Kim Kardashian at US$85 million).

The Heartless rapper previously went on a Twitter rant and said he was US$53 million in personal debt. He even asked Zuckerberg to donate $1 billion into “Kanye West ideas.”

West explained that while he is “personally rich and can buy furs and house for my family” he needed more money to “bring more beautiful ideas to the world.” He claimed to be spending his own money on business ventures and it would mean that he “could not afford to take care of my family.”

All in all, with the lost sales from the Saint Pablo tour merchandise and ticket refunds, West could be losing out on over US$26 million (about C$35 million). And if you include that enormous new upgraded diamond ring that was stolen from his wife at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room, that’s another US$4.5 million (over C$6 million) to add to the grand total of losses for 2016 (about C$41 million).

Not to mention the fact that The Life of Pablo was estimated to be streamed by about 500,000 people and downloaded for free, which furthers West’s decline in earnings for 2016.
