With approximately 300,000 drivers using the Turcot Interchange every day, expect even more delays as of Monday morning.
“We knew it was going to snow on Friday. We knew it was going to snow in downtown Montreal as it did,” said Rick Leckner, a traffic analyst.
“Going from downtown Montreal into Westmount was like going from a third world country into modern day. “
The eastbound Ville-Marie Expressway will be permanently closed between the interchange and the Atwater exits, going from four lanes, down to two.
“The signage for Route 136 will be in place only at the end of the project in 2020, so for road users, you still have to follow 720 East to access downtown Montreal,” said Sarah Bensadoun, a spokesperson with Transports Quebec.
Drivers heading south on the Decarie Expressway and those heading east on Highway 20 will be forced to take the new Route 136, an alternative two-lane highway.
Two additional lanes will only be added to the 136 in 2018.
