Rescuers captured dramatic video of a young Syrian girl being pulled alive from the rubble of a crumpled building following airstrikes in Aleppo that left at least six people dead.

The video, published by activist collective Aleppo Media Center, was captured on Tuesday following airstrikes on the southeastern neighbourhood Saliheen.

The edited video shows the young girl with a white helmet on her head lying on her back amongst chunks of concrete and other debris while several people work to pull her out.

Once freed, a man is seen carrying the dust-covered girl in his arms and into the back of an ambulance. Footage shows the child responsive in the back of the ambulance and she speaks to a rescue worker who braces the girl’s head with his hands.

The child is then carried into what appears to be a hospital where staff attempt remove dirt and dust from the her face and eyes.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group says 20 civilians have been killed by the fierce bombardment that resumed Tuesday after a three-week respite. Local activists counted at least 50 artillery and air strikes since the morning.

More than 300,000 people have been killed in the 5-1/2 year-long Syrian civil war.
