Officers arrived at the U of S and quickly located the coyote. Police said the animal did not flee as they approached and instead postured aggressively and howled at officers.
Faced with a danger to public safety, the coyote was shot with a rifle handled by an animal destruction officer.
The area has since been reopened to the public.
