WINNIPEG – The Manitoba Liberals have named a rookie MLA as their interim leader.
Judy Klassen was first elected in the northern constituency of Kewatinook in last spring’s provincial election.
She replaces Rana Bokhari, who stepped down after the Liberals took three seats, but she failed to win her own.

The party’s website says Klassen grew up on a remote fly-in northern reserve.
She campaigned on improving living and economic conditions in northern communities.
She says she isn’t ruling out staying on as permanent leader of the party.
“I recognize that there is a lot of work to be done,” Klassen said at the announcement Friday. “I believe with my work ethic, armed with the Manitoba Liberal party, together we can accomplish great things for the party.”
