Samaritan’s Purse Canada, a well-known international relief effort, is now set up in Sydney, N.S., to help those impacted by Thanksgiving Day flooding.

Workers finished two months of relief efforts in Alberta earlier this year following the wildfires and are now working to help people on the East Coast.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“We work primarily in Canada assisting homeowners with floods, tornadoes, fires like in Fort McMurray,” said Stephen Joudry.

So far, the Samaritan’s Purse has received requests from 140 homeowners looking for help cleaning up their houses.

The organization is putting out a call for volunteers to help with the work. Anyone interested call contact 902-563-5881.
