A Surrey couple is launching a petition to pressure the city to toughen up its policies on aggressive dogs after they were attacked by two pit bulls.
Harminder Sangha and his wife, Daisy, say they are traumatized and in pain.
“At first I thought I’m going to die because the one dog that latched right onto me onto my chest and wouldn’t let go of me,” Daisy told Global News.
On Oct. 9, the couple was viciously attacked by two pit bulls just outside Tynehead Park on a route the couple has walked every weekend for 12 years. The dogs were unleashed and had escaped from a home.
“It was so traumatic that I just still feel that I can’t come back on my own to this park,” an emotional Daisy said.
Daisy says she was left with serious bite wounds to her chest and her husband was mauled on his legs and buttocks.
Both will be off work for a few more weeks.

Harminder says he’s outraged by the City of Surrey’s response.
“He said these dogs have no history and unless they had a history of biting another person in the past, only then, they’re able to ticket them… it looks like they’re not going to do anything,” he said.
The City of Surrey says it’s still investigating, but the dogs are now labelled dangerous and must be leashed/muzzled at all times.
The Sanghas say the breed should be deemed dangerous from the start, not after and attack, and they want the two dogs destroyed.
Friends are helping the couple organize a petition to urge the city to get tough on aggressive dogs.
“I’m wondering if there was a child with me or somebody else elderly, which I wouldn’t be able to help them, because they were such vicious dogs, they didn’t let go of me,” Daisy said.
