It was 21-7 Toppers in the second quarter when quarterback Jared Andreychuk went deep to Ryan Turple who took it in for the touchdown. Saskatoon extended their lead to 28-7.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Andreychuk gives way to quarterback Jordan Walls on the next series who throws to Jason Price for a nice catch.

A few minutes later, Colin Stumborg takes the handoff from Walls and punches it in to make it 35-7 for Saskatoon.

As Winnipeg was looking to turn the game around, one of Walls’ passes was tipped and Nathan Dickson came up with the Rifles’ interception. But a couple plays later, quarterback Jonathan Remple was picked off by Saskatoon’s Cody Peters.

A second-half comeback for the Rifles was spoiled by the Hilltops as they finished with a 7-1 record.

With the Calgary Colts losing their final two games of the regular season, Saskatoon’s win this past weekend would hand them the top spot in the Prairie Football Conference (PFC).

The Toppers host the Regina Thunder at SMF Field next Sunday in the PFC semi-final.
