If you like fried chicken and you live in Alberta, you’re in luck. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has announced plans to expand into western Canada, with locations in Edmonton and Calgary.

Popeyes, which specializes in Louisiana-inspired fried chicken and seafood, will open locations in Alberta’s two largest cities.

Edmonton’s restaurant will open in the Tamarack area this November. The opening of the Calgary location, in Forest Lawn, will follow, the company said in a media release Tuesday.

Popeyes said more franchises will open in Edmonton and Calgary by the end of 2017.

“For over 40 years, Popeyes has been serving authentic southern food-fare that our consumers crave,” Popeyes president Andrew Skehan said. “The growth of our brand amongst our Canadian neighbours is especially exciting as it indicates a blossoming appreciation for our Louisiana culinary heritage.”
