For a couple hundred less fortunate Montrealers, Thanksgiving dinner was served with a special addition.
Players from the Montreal Alouettes stopped by the Welcome Hall Mission to help lift some spirits.
“It’s Thanksgiving and I have a lot to be thankful for,” said Alouettes linebacker, Kyries Hebert. “To be able to come and put a smile on somebody else’s face, it’s the least I can do. “I always say, there’s no better gift than time, so to be able to come and give my time, it’s a pleasure.”
Players served up a generous portion of turkey, potatoes and veggies, followed by chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream for dessert.
The event is a tradition for the Alouettes, who visit the mission every year – something mission CEO Cyril Morgan said people really appreciate.
“It’s a time to give thanks and we’re thankful for the Alouettes for coming,” said Morgan. “Unfortunately they didn’t win today, but they’re winners in our hearts because they warm the hearts of the men and women who come here.”
Joseph Lebel is one of those people and is also one of the lucky few who were chosen to attend the Alouettes game Monday afternoon.

He said it’s a day he’ll never forget.
“We had a lot of food and we saw the game in person you know, the players weren’t too far from us,” he said. ” It was really a good game and even if they lost, we still enjoyed it.”
