Maple Leafs’ Auston Matthews to play against Senators on Tuesday in Saskatoon

The first overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft is expected to hit the ice in Saskatoon.

Auston Matthews, 19, is in the Maple Leafs lineup for Tuesday’s pre-season game when Toronto takes on the Ottawa Senators at SaskTel Centre.

Matthews and other Leafs forwards will be going up against a Senators blue line that boosts Erik Karlsson and Dion Phaneuf. The teams’ training camp rosters are subject to change.

Tuesday’s exhibition game will also feature hometown favourite and Maple Leafs head coach, Mike Babcock.

On Ice Management announced that the teams will have a Tuesday morning practice open to all game day ticket holders. Toronto practices at 10:30 a.m. CT and Ottawa’s pre-game skate starts at 11:30 a.m.

With a crowd of around 12,500 expected, SaskTel Centre recommends hockey fans arrive early, car pool and consider transit services available from the downtown bus terminal.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available at Ticketmaster outlets and range in price from $47.25 to $99.75, plus service charges.

In September 2015, Connor McDavid helped the Edmonton Oilers shut out the Minnesota Wild in an NHL pre-season game at SaskTel Centre.
