Alberta Economic Development and Trade Minister Deron Bilous will be promoting forestry as part of his November trade mission to China.

Bilous said there’s tremendous potential for forestry products in China, and a key aspect of his visit will be to show Chinese officials the variety of wood products the province has to offer.

He said the Chinese market is taking on more importance as the clock ticks down on Canada’s Softwood Lumber Agreement with the United States.

The minister said that agreement ends in less than three weeks and the chances of it being renewed seem — quote — “very unlikely.”
