In total, 66 per cent of Winnipeggers are aware that Mayor Brian Bowman wants to charge additional fees, which could add thousands of dollars to new properties in the city.
Here are some of the other findings in the study:
- 49 per cent oppose these proposed fees,
- 43 per cent support the proposed fees,
- 8 per cent aren’t sure whether or not they support the fees or not,
- and 49 per cent of respondents would be less likely to build or buy in Winnipeg if these fees were applied.

Last week, city councillors delayed a vote on the controversial proposed growth fees plan, which would introduce additional fees on any new development within city limits. This would not include government buildings, Manitoba Housing, new schools, garages or decks.
More than 340 Winnipeggers responded to the poll from September 19 to 22.
