B.C. Premier Christy Clark’s son, Hamish Marissen-Clark, was one of the lucky people who got to greet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, when they touched down in Victoria, B.C. Saturday.

However, the teenager came under fire on social media for keeping his hands in his pockets during the official Royal greeting.
“Social media was mad at me for it, I felt really bad,” said Marissen-Clark. “I didn’t know where to put my hands.”
Clark said her son “got roasted” for his royal faux-pas.

But Marissen-Clark said overall, the experience of meeting the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge was “incredible.”
Marissen-Clark said Prince William asked him how he was doing. “He was pretty casual, pretty normal,” he said. “So was Kate. She liked my bow tie.”
He said that was his mom’s idea.
“I was wearing watermelon socks and the blue of it matched the socks.”

Marissen-Clark said when he sees his friends on Monday he knows they’re going to want to know all the details about the afternoon.
“It was just really surreal to be around such famous famous people. Just to be a part of it and be around them all day.”
