Montpetit said the initiative follows moves by Richard’s family and a local minor hockey association the Montreal Canadiens legend helped found.

The riding is currently named after Octave Cremazie, a Quebec poet who was born in 1827 and died in France in 1879.
Cremazie also has a major thoroughfare and a subway station named after him in Montreal.
