5 arrested in death of man found in Winnipeg dumpster

WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Police have arrested five people in connection to the death of a 43-year-old man whose body was found in a dumpster.

Police located the body of 43-year-old Garnet Walter Williams on Wednesday, August 10 in a garbage bin near Ellice Ave. and McGee St.

Police say their investigation placed Williams inside a suite on Ellice Ave., along with a small group of people he knew, on July 31.

They believe he was beaten by several people and then “confined for a period of time,” read a Winnipeg Police news release.

After several days had past, police say Williams’ body in the nearby dumpster.

Jeremy Lee Allen, 27, has been charged with first degree murder.

One man and two women also face charges in relation to Williams’ death that include manslaughter and indignity to a human body.  Charges against a fifth individual are pending.
