A man in his 70s is dead following a second-floor apartment fire in downtown Toronto early Tuesday morning.
Fire crews responded to the scene at 24 Shaw Street around 3 a.m. and located an adult male by the unit’s door.
Fire officials say CPR was performed but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A number of apartment units had to be evacuated as a precaution but residence were later allowed back in.
The fire was contained to the living room area and quickly knocked down. No other serious injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal.
