The photo shows Bolt smirking at photographers as he seemingly glides across the track, just a stride ahead of his competition which included Canadian Andre De Grasse.

Bolt’s smirk quickly went viral on Twitter, providing Olympic spectators with a new meme.

Bolt went on to win gold in the 100-metre final with a time of 9.81 seconds. American Justin Gatlin took silver in 9.89.

“(Bolt) always motivates me to come out there and try to beat him, but he’s just a different beast, a different animal. I just know I’ve got to work a lot harder if I want to beat him next year,” De Grasse said Sunday. However, Bolt has said this will be his last Olympic appearance.

This isn’t the first Olympic meme to go viral; a similar photo was taken during the men’s 200-metre butterfly final.

It showed decorated Olympian Michael Phelps with his eyes fixated on the pool wall ahead of him, as rival Chad le Clos turned his head to check how far ahead Phelps was. The picture from Phelps’ so-called redemption race spread like wildfire on social media; many sharing it with inspiring quotes like, “Winners focus on winning. Losers focus on winners.”
