ELMIRA, N.Y. — Police say a teen and preteen have been charged in the accidental shooting death of a 12-year-old New York boy.
Police in Elmira say a 12-year-old and a 15-year-old have been charged with possession of a firearm in the fatal shooting of an Elmira boy at a home July 30. The case will be handled in Chemung County Family Court.
Officials say their names aren’t being released because of their ages. Authorities also haven’t released the victim’s name.
Police say the youth who fired the fatal shot believed that the gun was unloaded. Authorities believe the shooting was an accident.
