WINDSOR, Ont. – Police in Windsor, Ont., have charged a local monk in connection with what they call the possible historical sexual assault of a child.
Police allege a child was assaulted on multiple occasions about two years ago at the Khemara Buddhist Temple.
The child was six years old at the time of the alleged assaults and police say they are concerned “there may be a potential” for other victims.
Then Phan, 38, of Essex County is charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference and one count of an indecent act.
Police, which began the investigation in July following a complaint from the family, have not revealed the child’s gender.
