It was deja vu at Country Hills Golf Club for the final round of the ATB Financial Classic tournament Sunday.
Due to a lack of improvement in the conditions on the course from rain that fell overnight, the last round needed to be cancelled after a long weather delay.
In 2013, when Calgary was in a state of emergency due to historic floods, PGA Tour Canada officials also cancelled the golf tournament.
The early finish wrapped up the tournament at 54 holes, leaving England’s Charlie Bull as the champion.
A disappointing end for many of the rising stars that were excited to try to get back in the hunt and make up some strokesSunday.
“I would have loved the opportunity to get a shot at the title but at the end of the day, T2 – I’m very happy with that finish. It’s two top three’s in my last three events…overall I’m happy with the finish even though it’s a little disappointing,” Austin Connelly, who was looking for his first professional win this week, said.
The ATB Classic is the eighth event of the 2016 Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada season.
