Deanna Darby, a single mother of two, has been battling breast cancer for quite some time.

But now, the disease has spread to her bones and liver and doctors have said her cancer is terminal.

“The positive thing is that my cancer is stable and I’m gonna fight this for my children,” Darby said as she is hugged by her eight year-old daughter, Oksana.

She’s not alone, though.

A group of people in Saint-Lazare has come together to make sure her family has everything they need.

The latest health and medical news emailed to you every Sunday.

“Circle of Friends are a bunch of people who don’t sit back and watch, we get right into it,” said Nagy, the founder of the group.

“We call it compassionate action and we just want to be there for our neighbours, our friends.”

The group has done everything, from raising money through a Go Fund Me campaign to providing the family with food.

“I have homemade minestrone soup, I have spaghetti, I have Indian food,” Darby told Global News.

The group is hoping to raise $20,000 to cover Darby’s food costs, as well as transport to her chemotherapy appointments.

“I’ve been working very little and I got into debt, of course. I’ve been putting my groceries on my credit card for five years,” said Darby.

Circle of Friends is also helping to take care of Darby’s two young children.

“It’s really awesome that we got a whole bunch of support and everyone is helping us and just glad our mom is happy,” said ten year-old Kiefer Darby.

Darby said Circle of Friends is a gift from God.

“There are people helping me, amazing people. They are angels to me,” said a tearful Darby.
