‘I see you and I see your bullsh*t!’: Jon Stewart takes over Stephen Colbert’s show to deliver scathing rant
Late Night host Stephen Colbert had his show temporarily 'hijacked' by the now-retired Jon Stewart, who used the opportunity to go on a blistering rant against Donald Trump, the Republican Party, and Fox News. – Jul 22, 2016

If you’ve been following the ongoing drama that is the 2016 U.S. election and have been missing the scathing political reviews of Jon Stewart (formerly the host of The Daily Show), well, get ready.

The 53-year-old got back behind a late night desk, Stephen Colbert’s at the Late Show to be exact, on Thursday to slam the official Republican nominee for president – the “angry underdog” – Donald Trump.

The bit began with Colbert discussing the demise of Fox News CEO Roger Ailes who resigned from the network after a slew of sexual harassment allegations. The conversation then veered toward the election.

“So, uh, thanks for stopping by,” said Colbert in the clip. “Is there something I can help you with?”

“I was actually wondering if I could talk about the election,” responded Stewart. “[And] actually, for me to do it, I kind of… need your desk.”

“You want to sit here?” asked Colbert.

And with a simple “yes” Stewart took to centre stage for a 10-minute rant.

“The Republicans appear to have a very clear plan for America… One, jail your political opponent; two, inject Rudy Giuliani with a speed ball and Red Bull enema; and three, spend the rest of the time scaring the holy bejesus out of everybody.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

He went on to say many conservatives will have to do something akin to gymnastics in order to embrace Trump as president. “A man who clearly embodies things they have, for years, said that they have hated about Barack Obama.”

That includes right-wing journalists – especially those at Fox News.

What ensues is a diatribe about the things many of these individuals are saying about Trump that they once used against Obama.

“Here’s where we are, either [Sean Hannity] and his friends are lying about being bothered by thin-skinned, authoritarian, less-than Christian readers of prompters being president or, they don’t care. As long as it’s their thin-skinned, authoritarian, prompter [reading], tyrant, narcissist.  You just want that person to give you your country back, because you feel that you’re this country’s rightful owners. There’s only one problem with that: This country isn’t yours. You don’t own it. It never was. There is no real America… I see you, and I see your bullsh*t.”
He closed with this: “You got a problem with those Americans fighting for their place at the table… You got a problem with them because you feel like the [sub-groups] of Americans are being divisive. If you have a problem with that, take it up with the founders. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. Those fighting to be included in the ideal of equality are not being divisive; those fighting to keep those people out are.”
