Former U.S. Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey took the stage at the Republican National Convention Tuesday Night to throw his support behind the newly-nominated Donald Trump with an attack against his opponent.
Mukasey, who was AG during George W. Bush’s presidency, had formerly slammed Trump’s bid for the presidency.

Earlier this year, Mukasey, in an article in the National Review titled “Conservatives against Donald Trump“, listed reasons why “a Donald Trump presidency would imperil our national security.”
Included in the list were Trump’s plan to ban Muslims from the U.S. and his statement saying he would “order the military to kill the families of terrorists.”

Despite this open letter, Mukasey took to the stage in Cleveland at the RNC just hours after Trump was nominated.
But he never mentioned Trump by name in his speech; instead he went after Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.
“The message from this convention to everyone watching these proceedings – and the message to her – should be loud, clear and short: ‘No way Hillary, no way on earth!’”
Mukasey was among many politicians and celebrities speaking at Day 2 of the convention, including Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.
Ryan has said he has problems with Trump’s combative style, but in June (after Trump had already cinched enough delegates) he jumped on the bandwagon and endorsed him.

Both Ryan and former opponent, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, focused their speeches on Hillary Clinton and the Democrats Tuesday night.
Other former Trump leadership rivals, John Kasich and Jeb Bush, chose not to attend the convention rather than support Trump.
