WINNIPEG — Officers have been combing a back lane in St. Vital after a report of shots fired Tuesday morning.

The report came in around 9 a.m. near St. Mary’s and St. Thomas Roads, near Fermor Avenue.

Evidence markers are set up in a back lane running parallel to St. Mary’s Road just north of Fermor Avenue.

At one end, markers are set up beside what appear to be shell casings.

Dan Odinson lives across the lane and says he was watching television when he heard the bangs.

“It sounded like two wooden boards being slapped together very hard four time. We came out and we didn’t see anything, but crows were going nuts,” he said.

“A woman was walking her dog and saw it and said a guy stopped his vehicle, got out and fired four shots.”

The driver then sped off, Odinson said.

Police are investigating and warn drivers to expect delays in the area.

At this point there are no reports of anyone hurt and no one in custody.
