WINNIPEG — A tour bus shuttling Winnipeg Folk Festival attendees back and forth caught fire Saturday morning.
Kyle Picard and his son Adam saw the fire from their vehicle and got out to quickly help. Adam called 9-1-1, while dad took his own fire extinguisher out of his boat to help slow down the flames until firefighters arrived on scene.
The driver, Jeanne Newman, said at least 15 people were on board the tour bus and all were evacuated. No injuries reported.
The owner of the company, Five Star Bus Lines, said the bus is not able to be driven and a replacement was sent to pick up passengers.
This all happened around 11am on Highway 59. The fire caused the highway to be blocked between McIvor and Headmaster as at least three fire trucks and paramedics made their way to the scene.
The cause of the fire and location of it on the bus is not known at this time.
