Alberta Environment is asking anglers on the Eastern Slopes to give fish a break.

Low water levels and warm temperatures are putting stress on fish.

WATCH: Low water levels in Alberta

The province say this could cause fish to die that are caught under catch and release rules.

Anglers in the region are being encouraged to fish stocked ponds and lakes.

They are also being asked to fish early in the morning and to release fish as quickly as possible.
