Indian Arm house fire threatens small community
Fire destroys one home under construction and damages a second in a remote area along Indian Arm this morning in an area known as Brighton Beach, a community only accessible by boat. Jill Bennett explains – Jul 7, 2016

The fire in Brighton Beach, Indian Arm, is now contained after crews were called to the remote community earlier this morning.

The fire started in a home that was under construction. It then spread to a neighbouring home and the surrounding trees.

One home is destroyed.

A spokesperson for Fire and Rescue Services for the District of North Vancouver says the first 911 call came in at 5:40 a.m.

There is no word yet on the cause, but no one was injured in the fire.

As this area is only accessible by boat, Vancouver Fire Department’s boat was called in to help.

The BC Wildfire Service also assisted by dropping water from the air.
