Emilie Cahn is the group’s lead singer and said if it wasn’t for the lightning, she would have liked to keep playing.

“Even as we were getting a bit of rain, I was kind of enjoying it,” Cahan said.

Organizers of the Jazz Fest are constantly monitoring weather patterns in order to make the call whether it’s safe for shows in Saskatoon to go on.

“We’re always keeping safety at the forefront to make sure that audience members aren’t at risk or the artists,” said marketing director Jacqueline Conway.

The festival is committed to keeping the public in the loop for any possible cancellations, updating social media as changes happen.

“We want to be transparent and keep communication open at all times during the festival,” Conway said.

Emilie & Ogden will have another chance to perform during the festival, opening for Metric Saturday night at the Bessborough Gardens.
