An outpouring of emotion and support in Langley today, for a family that lost their son when he fell out a third floor window. Jordan Armstrong reports – Jun 24, 2016

A four-year-old boy is dead after falling from the third-storey window of a townhome in Langley.

It happened just before 3 p.m., in a complex at 208th Street and 80th Avenue in the Walnut Grove area.

Three ambulances responded, and the child was transported to hospital in critical condition, but passed away shortly after.

Langley RCMP say the incident does not appear to be suspicious.

Coroners and the victim’s family, who were at home at the time of the accident, are still on scene.

On Friday, a vigil has been growing outside Richard Bulpitt Elementary in Langley as friends and total strangers are dropping off dozens of balloons in memory of the boy.

Carley Woodward, who, along with her three-year-old boy, dropped off some balloons at the memorial, says she gave her kids an extra strong hug after learning the tragic news last night.

“I ran around my house and locked all the windows because we are in a three-storey townhouse as well,” says Woodward. “It could happen to anybody.”

“I can’t imagine what this family is going through, but this [vigil] is the only way to come together and support them,” another neighbour, Ryan Yasayko, who attended the memorial with his young son, told Global News.
