Police appealing for help finding parents of baby found dead in London, Ont. dumpster

Police are asking the public for help identifying the parents of a newborn baby found dead in a dumpster in London, Ont., and say they are particularly concerned for the mother’s health.

London police received a report of human remains found in a garbage dumpster in the Richmond and Mill Streets area at around 11:30 a.m. Thursday and located a deceased infant.

The police’s Major Crime Section is investigating and police said Thursday afternoon they had removed the body from the dumpster and had cleared the scene of the investigation.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday and police are awaiting the results. Police said Friday they are concerned for the mother’s health and well-being.

“Without proper medical care the mother may be in significant pain, may be bleeding internally, and is at risk of a serious infection,” said Const. Sandasha Bough.

No information has been released on the baby’s age, gender or cause of death as Bough said it remains part of the active investigation.
