UPDATE, 11:40 a.m.: The shooting victim has been identified as Amarjit Singh Sandhu.

UPDATE, 10:15 a.m.: IHIT has confirmed the victim in Saturday evening’s shooting is a 56-year-old male. Authorities believe the shooting was targeted.

Richmond RCMP and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Unit (IHIT) are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in broad daylight Saturday evening at Richmond’s Ironwood Plaza outside the Tim Horton’s.

Just after 6 p.m., officers arrived to the 11300 block of Steveston Highway after reports a male was shot. The victim was immediately sent to hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Officers remained at the scene into the evening, surrounding a black Nissan pick-up truck riddled with bullet holes.

The case has now been deemed a homicide and will be investigated by IHIT.
