KELOWNA – There was a large response from the Kelowna Fire Department late Friday afternoon after reports of an apartment building in the Rutland area was on fire.
Around 4 p.m., reports came in of flames coming from the parkade of an apartment complex on the corner of Leathead and Franklyn Roads.
The fire was quickly extinguished but not before it scorched the side of the building and damaged some nearby bushes.
The blaze started in a vehicle inside the parkade but it’s too early to determine what caused the vehicle to catch fire.
Leathead Road was closed to traffic for about an hour but is expected to be reopened at any moment.
No word on the cause of the blaze.
