Shooting on Crescent Street in downtown Montreal

MONTREAL – Police are investigating after a shooting on the corner of Crescent Street, between Sainte-Catherine Street and René-Lévesque Boulevard in downtown Montreal.

At 6:50 p.m., police responded to 911 calls from witnesses who reported hearing several gun shots after a conflict between a large group of people.

Manuel Couture, spokesperson for the Montreal police, said officers arrested a 24-year-old suspect a few blocks away from the scene.

The ground was littered with bullet casings, he added.

At 7:20 p.m., a victim showed up at a Montreal hospital with gunshot wounds.

The man’s life is not in danger and he is not cooperating with police.
