WINNIPEG — A new app developed by a Winnipeg company is aiming to make getting to the big game easier for sports fans.
EventRide matches fans that are looking for a ride to a game with fans that are willing to provide a ride to a game.
“Car pooling is an important thing that we need to have happen for these big events,” said Rod Bruinooge, EventRide CEO.
The app launched Wednesday at Shaw Park, a setting with some significance given EventRide’s goal of tapping into major league baseball fans base south of the border.
The company is also hoping to partner with teams in an effort to create a carbon credit program.
They are working with a Toronto-based firm to figure out how to award carbon credits to teams based on how much travel distance is eliminated for their fans with the app.
The app can also be used by people who are looking to go to a concert.
