WINNIPEG — Within hours of tickets going on pre-sale for The Tragically Hip’s farewell tour, dozens had popped up on resale sites. However, there was one major problem, tickets on these sites were being sold in sections that are closed off for the show in Winnipeg.

The Kingston, Ontario rock band announced its farewell tour last week, following the announcement of The Hip’s frontman Gord Downie’s diagnosis of terminal brain cancer.
Members of the band’s fan club were given exclusive access to an undisclosed amount of tickets, with a purchase limit of four tickets per credit card.
However, many people were reportedly not able to get through before the pre-sale was sold out and those who may attempt to try to snag a ticket on re-sale sites should be careful.
There are a number of tickets posted for sale in sections that are not available for the show at the MTS Centre.
On StubHub there are eight tickets “available” for section 115 starting at $1,048 US per ticket.
Unfortunately, when you check the Ticketmaster site, that section is not being sold for the Tragically Hip show.
The same goes for section 317, which on StubHub also shows a number of tickets for sale.
In other cases, tickets in legitimate sections were also being resold. Unfortunately for some fans, they were asking well above the actual cost of the ticket.
If you weren’t able to snag tickets during Monday’s pre-sale there are still a few more chances. AMEX card holders can purchase them during another pre-sale Wednesday morning and tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, June 3.
