Royal family member Zara Phillips wins silver medal

A British royal has just added to the family silver. Zara Phillips, the queen’s granddaughter, has won an eventing team silver medal. Germany took gold.

Phillips was riding the horse “High Kingdom.”

She is not the first member of the royal family to compete in the Olympics. Her mother Anne, Princess Royal, also competed for Great Britain in equestrian eventing in the 1976 Montreal games. Her father, Mark Phillips, also competed in eventing. His team won gold at the 1972 Munich Olympics and silver at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Princes William and Harry and William’s wife Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, were in the stands to cheer Phillips on in the three-discipline equestrian eventing.
