The first images have emerged of debris of EgyptAir Flight 804, which crashed into the Mediterranean on its way to Cairo from Paris, killing all 66 people on board.
The Egyptian military released pictures Saturday appearing to show the heavily-damaged remains of plane seats, life jackets and scraps of cloth.
The Egyptian military announced Friday that it had found debris in the eastern Mediterranean, around 290 kilometres north of Alexandria.
There’s no explanation so far on why the plane crashed into the sea, but investigators said smoke was detected on the plane before it went down.

Egyptian authorities said they believe terrorism is a more likely explanation than equipment failure, and some aviation experts have said the erratic flight suggests a bomb blast or a struggle in the cockpit. But so far no hard evidence has emerged.
No militant group has claimed to have brought down the aircraft.
