Edwardson said she wanted to bring  some comfort to her fellow Albertans who have been displaced due to the wildfires. She reached out to a Saskatchewan company that supplies pillows to her store, and asked them to help create a special pillow to show support for Fort McMurray.

She designed two different versions of the pillows, “Fort Mac Strong” and “Alberta Strong.”

For every pillow sold, 100 per cent of the profits are donated back to the people of Fort McMurray. A portion of the sales will also go to the Red Cross Society.

Edwardson said the idea came to her while she was waiting to pick her daughter up from school.

“I thought to myself that these people needed to be comforted, they needed a hug or something–just to make them feel that much better. Something to hug or cry into, anything to console them at this time. So I thought of a pillow.”

You can purchase the pillows at Décor Out The Door, located at 1509 Mayor Magrath Drive South, or you can order one through the Facebook page and have it shipped to your home.
